Mass Union Lead Protests lead the charge as the workers and families and supporters of Carlyon Print a supported workshop for disabled people went head to head with council leaders at Brent Town Hall, they protested with banners and made their voices heard, causing general embassament to the council at large.
Supporters came from far and wide to rally to Carlyon’s cause, as other community and social services faced the council’s axe, they stood together as one voice in unity.
Upon entering the council chambers, it was clear the issues of closure had brought the community together with a petition of 3000 strong behind them, however what followed was kangaroo court like farce of epic and saddening proportions, it was clear from the start that council officials who appeared on Carlyon’s side had been gotten too, one member of the table stated this issue “Made him sick to core” and refused to vote. Not surprising when a factory that runs Printing Machines gets compared with a Day Care Centre.
Fact’s and figures that were presented were twisted to the council members own ends. Union members and Opposed councilers voiced the anger only for the table to try to gag them.
It appeared a farce to begin with, however the fact a vote/decision to close Carlyon appeared in a blink of a eye and it was based on a report that had no basis in reality begs the question do we really live in a free and just society? The story is not over…
